Start your first watch

  1. Keep the monitoring iPhone aboard. Allow Precise Location and sound notifications, then wait for a fresh GPS position.
  2. Mark the anchor when it drops, or estimate it using bearing and distance. Set your swing circle on the map.
  3. Start the watch and test the alarm. Use the visible Stop watch button to end monitoring. After reopening, review the saved anchor and resume with fresh GPS.

Display and distance

In Map & water depths → Display, select meters or feet and System, Light or Dark appearance. Night appearance forces dark colours. The circle stays the same physical size when units change. Tap +/− for one meter or foot, or hold to repeat. Drag the bottom panel down for more map and up for Watch details.

Reduce repeated GPS warnings

Open Watch details → Watch health. Choose Automatic, 10 m, 25 m or 50 m accuracy tolerance. GPS sound delay offers 20, 30, 60 or 120 seconds; reminders can sound once, every minute or every five minutes. Defaults are 30 seconds and every minute. Three fresh, usable readings clear a GPS episode.

Unreliable GPS is shown immediately. A longer sound delay leaves the boat position unconfirmed for longer. Confirmed boundary alarms are separate. GPS settings cannot improve the phone’s reception.

One link for the shore device

  1. Start a real watch, then open More options → Shore companion and start sharing.
  2. Send the private link to your shore device and bookmark it. New links work across anchorages and app restarts. Older 24-hour links need replacing once.
  3. On shore, enable and test a sound. Choose Classic beeps, Bell, Sonar, Alternating alarm, Emergency wail, Emergency high-low or Rapid siren.

Stop watch retains the link. Pause sharing stops live sharing; Resume sharing uses the same link. Revoke link permanently removes access. Anyone with the link can view future watches while sharing is enabled. Keep the shore browser open and screen awake; enable sound again after reopening it.

Testing and limitations

Please report your device, iOS version, app version, the steps taken and what happened via TestFlight feedback or email. Avoid including your private sharing link or exact anchorage in public reports.

Test initially in supervised conditions. Force-quitting or powering off stops monitoring. Device volume, Focus, Bluetooth routing, power and GPS reception can affect alarms. This beta has no Critical Alerts entitlement. The shore browser is not a dependable background or overnight alarm. Continue normal anchor checks and use appropriate navigation equipment.

WA seabed imagery is regional relief reference; NOAA depth charts cover US waters. Neither is a live depth reading. C-MAP is not connected. Satellite counts are unavailable through the phone’s location interface.
